Eternity

Fiery red flames
set the sand ablaze
Touching gently, caressing even
the  waves lap
at the shore
leaving white foam in their wake
The sea gulls call to each other
in the sky
yearning for the break of day
cool pebbles
break our foot prints
the ones we leave behind us
as proof that we were there

Wading through the water
squelching sand between our toes
the warm pressure of your hand on mine
reassures, comforts
I know that you'll be there
when I need you
I wish this moment
would never end

A lifetime of happiness
I've stored up
in case it doesn't last
till the end
Locked in a close embrace
salty with the sea breeze
Don't want to ever let you go
Could talk to you for hours
or just sit silent
Feel your presence next to me
Saying I love you
without any words at all
This memory will not fade
I will always remember
I hope you do too.

This moment is ours!

The sun comes out from beind the clouds
and a rainbow shimmers in that pool
As laughing we make our way
towards a forbidden paradise
we climb the fence
where spikes abound
flushed with success
we scream and shout
whirling round and round
till giddy we fall
We lie right there
and gaze at the stars
So high but yet so near
the diamond studded ceiling
beckons us
" Come here"
Dreaming, dreaming...
we share them out
Each one eager to achieve
for the others to believe
that we can do anything
we set our minds to
Complex as a kaleidoscope
Patterns are formed
Sometimes we don't understand
What has happened or why?
the still waters are disturbed
We are pushed apart
the tidal wave that seperates us
seems to wide to cross
Patiently brick by brick
We build a bridge so strong
that crossing over once impossible
now becomes a certainity
We look at the world with clear eyes
Appreciate what others might not
When we are together
No one else matters
Because we've got each other
It may not be perfect
nor wholly complete
Nor last forever
but right here
and right now
This moment is ours!

Why?

Why is everyone
afraid of who they really are?
Afraid to do the things they really like
Why do we pretend day after day
to be something we are really not
to be disinterested
in those who raise
their faces to us in hope
that we will care
Why do we push aside
real chances of love
precious moments with real friends
Why are we scared
to admit that maybe
we do believe
that there is a God
somewhere, out there
why do we deny
the good things and the true
push away chances
 to show
another that we care
to drown ourselves in love
an emotion we never knew
we had and could share
the fundamental reason for our being
for us to live life to the fullest
Why can't we learn that life is not dangerous
not something that waits
to hurt us at every corner
to push us down
to make us die
and feel that we are living a lie
Not really living
because we are pretending
Why?

Absolute Freedom

Have you ever felt in a tizzy?
with your brain swirling around in your head,
beating against the shadows of it's confines
longing to be free of it's prison
to do great things
to fly
if it could
soar up against those common dictates
those petty wars
free to explore
the brilliance of true knowledge
lifting against the dark of ignorance
to scream for justice against racism
and beliefs that other people stand up so strongly for
free to be itself,
to be comfortable
in a world of strangers
one stranger than the other
free to do the best it could
which is more than you
would ever let it do
free to live life on it's own terms
free to think what it wants
without you choking down
beliefs that you think you shouldn't have
What would life be like
if every brain was FREE?

Life without a mask

Looking up and around,
the world seems different somehow.

Realization dawns,
My mask has slipped.

I am looking out with a pure gaze
unjaded, unbiased
by life's melancholy

Everything seems a shade brighter
than it used to be

Life feels vibrant
the screen has slipped
between the real world and me

A cloud passes over
everything is dimmer now

Experiencing life is a rollercoaster
of ups and downs

Euphoria sometimes,
Despair also combines
To weave the colourful fabric
that is life.

I need my mask for when
reality turns ugly

and I can't bear to see the world as it is

Also what if people see the person
that happens to be me

in a false reality of smirks
from which I flee.

There is no place where
I can be just me

How I'd love to be just me

The 1 day friend vs the forever acquaintance

It has never failed to amaze me, how sometimes we can live our whole lives knowing someone but he would remain just an aquaintance whereas we strike it off on day 1 with someone we meet at a supermarket , or at a party and that is the beginning of a beautiful friendship that lasts a lifetime.

Often it is just a circumstance or a reaction that slices off that first protective layer and allows us a glance at the person below that. and... we fall in like...whereas with acquaintances our protective masks are slapped firmly on and we are armed with every possible guard against bad weather . But So are they!

So the question we could ask at this point is do we really need to be sooo careful bout what we say, what we do and how we say what we say.. I guess it all boils down to the comfort levels that one has and how well the thought processes map out!

Cheers to all my 1 day friends!! Could'nt live without you....

Still India

She walks alone,
Straight and tall,
So much hope
glitters in her starry eyes

But then again,
You crush her,
bring her back down
to her knees

Her teardrops fall
thick and fast
believe in me
she pleads

But Alas!
you were never taught
the strength of a woman
comes from within
though it may not
show without

This moment will pass
She will get up;
will fly again
but believe
in your daughter
you must!
